Law on Accounting and Financial Audit determines the legal basis for keeping accounts, preparing, and presenting financial statements, as well as auditing financial statements in Georgia.

This Law aims to:

  • Determine the legal basis for keeping accounts, preparing and presenting financial statements
  • Determine the terms and procedures for financial statements audits

Accounting shall be regulated by this Law and other normative acts of Georgia and must be comply with accounting standards.

Accounting standards shall include the public sector accounting standards, which are elaborated by Georgian government and the private sector accounting standards which include the IFRS, IFRS for SMEs and local (national) financial reporting standards for non-entrepreneurial (non-commercial) legal persons.
