Lactation room at BDO Georgia office

12 September 2022

We are happy to announce the opening of a lactation room at BDO office.

Recognizing the important health benefits that breastfeeding offers, we are committed to providing comfortable environment for our employees who choose to pump. Adequate personal space and breaktime will let them properly care for their babies as well as avoid the anxiety and stress of getting back to work. The room contains all necessary equipment and is available to our employees as well as breastfeeding visitors.

BDO joined the UN Women and UN Global Compact joint initiative for gender equality and women’s empowerment back in 2020. With this action we declared our full support and willingness to contribute to women’s empowerment in workplace, marketplace and community. And the next year, by joining the UN Global Compact, BDO once again reaffirmed that gender equality is one of the foremost sustainable development goals (SDGs) which we choose to work on as an organization.

Zurab Lalazashvili, Managing Partner: “Touching every aspect of business, women are influential decision-makers. As undeniable trend-setters in many sectors across the economy, women in workforce are crucial to business success. They are capable of providing intelligent, thoughtful, competent insights that only the unique experiences of women and their views of life and behavior can bring to the table. We believe that women, at each and every stage of their lives, deserve to have the fair support that would enable them to fully apply their unique potential for the personal well-being and for the benefit of their families and the society. For BDO culture the role of empowered professional women who can well balance the work and life with family, has always been inherent.”

Tamara Tsitskishvili, HR Manager: “ This initiative is an example of BDO’s continuing commitment to support new mothers as they return to work. For breastfeeding mothers, it is not always easy to get back to work comfortably and confidently, when there is lack of accommodation in the workplace. So we are ready to support them in the decision to continue breastfeeding which is such an important stage of a child’s development. The new Moms should not have to wean their infants just because of the technicality or lack of human support.”

BDO Georgia continues to integrate sustainable development principles into the company business model and further advocating women empowerment principles, because we believe in joining efforts in working towards the society where achieving gender equality across the economy would not be considered a special issue, but a normalcy.
